Here Are Some 5 Simple Tips When Checking into a Hotel

1.  Keep Luggage in Sight at All Times

      -    Never, turn your back on your bags. If you have a lot of luggage, have a porter assist you in bringing it all to the front desk. Allowing a hotel employee to take your things to your room without your presence is never a good idea.

     2.  Be Overprotective with Personal Data

      -    Don't mention your name or any other identifying information too loudly when checking in. It's important to remember that identity theft might occur during an overheard conversation. Instead, make a note of your name and reservation number. Request that the concierge write down your floor and room number rather than calling it out.

     3. Think Ahead

    -  One for your room and one for your wallet, request two hotel business cards. You'll always have the hotel's address if you get lost or need to contact them in an emergency. You can simply enter the hotel's address into your phone's mapping app, which will bring up the address right away.

 4.
Check Door and Window Locks

    -  After you've entered your room, ask the valet to hold your luggage while you double-check the door and window locks. Also, make sure the bathroom (including the tub/shower area) and closets are empty and clean.

    5. Use a Door Wedge

   -  A wedge inserted beneath your locked door adds an extra layer of security. A door wedge is a reasonably inexpensive and compact item to bring with you when traveling, but if you forgot to bring one, check to see if your room has one or ask the front desk if they can give one.
